God is often seen as the source of love the cause for love and here is why I believe God is Love and Love is God. Without God where is love, without Love where is God.
God from the beginning has loved. He created the world for Love, and in his creation, you can see feel, smell, touch, and find his Love. God created the world out of spoken love, anywhere you look you can see his care and purpose. Down to the literal atoms, the Creator can be found. God literally made this beautiful world to share with humanity, I believe as an act of Love. He created space and time for us to be in a relationship with him. He even gave Adam an Eve to love and care for showing his intention for us. Opening the bible, almost every page you can find an example of God’s love. Seeing this recent study by Justin on The Bible Promise, into the book of John, the one whom Jesus loved, it brought me to a topical study that I felt needed to be shared on Unfiltered.
John 3:16 is the essential guide to the point of the Gospel and the bases of almost all creeds and doctrine. ‘’For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.’’ This is all the proof you need to know The God of the universe, massive and expansive, loves YOU. “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
John 3:16 through 17 is the backbone of Christianity and Evangelism. God loves every person in the world so much, that he would sacrifice himself for the un-deserving human. Through the blood of Christ any man can step forward into the love and light of God, Great and Holy and unimaginably awesome God.
The word Love is mentioned over 500 times through the bible in NIV in over 500 verses. Now when it comes the love of God the Hebrew word used most frequent is HESED. The Hebrew word “חֶסֶד” (hesed) is often rendered in English as “loving devotion,” “steadfast love,” “mercy,” or “kindness.”“hesed” is frequently translated as “loving devotion. “The term encompasses the ideas of enduring commitment, covenant loyalty, benevolence, and deep compassion.”
“Rather than being limited to emotional kindness or favor, “hesed” indicates a dependable, faithful, and often sacrificial love-one that persists despite circumstances. It implies the unwavering reliability and gracious action of the one who shows “hesed,” most prominently illustrated by God’s covenant faithfulness toward His people”. This is the definition given on Biblehub.com.
I have pages and pages and verses on verses that I will read now to back this affirmation of God’s love through the scriptures. Some of these will help better understand the view of God’s love onto humanity.
Now in the Greek New Testament there is four translations or words used for love.
Storge (Στοργή): This refers to the natural affection and love within families, such as the bond between parents and children.
Philia (Φιλία): This is the love of friendship, characterized by affection, loyalty, and shared experiences between people with common interests.
Eros (Έρως): This term describes passionate, romantic, and sexual love, often associated with desire.
Agape (Αγάπη): This is selfless, unconditional love that encompasses grace, mercy, and compassion, often described as divine love or God's love.
I have some verses with those in my blue letter bible notes. Refer to those.
Jesus was the way, light, truth, God, and Love of God personified. In the literal flesh.
What does God’s love look and feel like?
Well, the Love of God feels like salvation and hope and assurance in grace and life everlasting. Now the spirit of God (Holy Ghost) brings a sense of warmth to some and fills with Joy for some. God’s love is the love of another that truly cares for you and accepts you as you are and wants better for you. God from creation has sought for man to join him in righteousness and “glory”. God has set in motion a way for man to be united with him is grace and love for literal eternity. Through the sacrifice of the Christ the Son of man the Son of God. God himself in human form. The reason God is referred to as father so much and so often is due to the love he shows us. God has protected and provided and guided as a father since Adam. Find Noah and his family protected from the destruction of the inhabitance of earth, because they loved God as he loved them. The nation of Israel has been through the motions as the children of God. Through chastisement and great wealth. God has been there amid them. From the sin with the serpent to the crushing of its head there has been God the loving father, loving and guiding. Setting up the inheritance of humans.
The hope we have in Jesus is how you feel the love of God.
The church and the brothers and sisters in Christ, the availability of salvation is how you see it and find it.
When you create a being by the grace of God, hold the hand, and look into the eye of your god given child. You get a glimpse of the love god has for you. I didn’t think I fully understood that till it happened. At the end of your life (or in moments of your life) when you investigate the love of your life, your partner in the pains of the world, you see the love of God. This is why we are called his children and the bride of Christ.
Refer to scripture at any point in this that you can.
How do we return the favor?
We devote our souls and our lives to serving God and his will.
We confess him as Savior and then Lord. We find ways to worship and give back to him through the worldly church. We allow the spirit to inhabit us and change us. We can’t just talk the talk; you HAVE to walk the walk as well.
The bible promise is here to help you do that. We can serve God by bringing you to him or closer to him.
